This plan, also known as the EODD, helped me to lose weight without making me feel as if I was starving myself. How Does the Every Other Day Diet Work?
The EODD is just like it sounds; it is a diet that you go on every other day. On the first day you eat normally, about 2000 calories of healthy and well-balanced food. On the second day you eat between 300 and 400 calories. Then you keep going back and forth until your weight loss goal is achieved.
The plan comes from observing the eating habits of animals. Many carnivores eat one day and fast for the next two or three. This is actually quite healthy.
The reason the EODD is so effective is that it never lets your metabolism drop down to starvation levels. If you reduce your overall calorie intake, your metabolism will slow down. This is why so many people gain weight after their diet is done.
With the EODD, you never let your metabolism slow down because every day other day you are eating normally. In your low calorie days your metabolism is still working at the same high rate.
How to Do the Every Other Day Diet
The first day of the diet is easy. Eat around 2000 calories. Don’t binge. Don’t eat a lot of junk food. Just eat three healthy meals starting with a large breakfast.
The next day you need to monitor your calorie intake. Foods like egg whites, whey protein, and tomato juice are recommended. Get some extra protein with some ham or a small piece of cheese.
Drink water throughout your diet. Also make sure to keep on exercising a daily two mile walk is one of the best ways to exercise without feeling exhausted on the low calorie days.
The Every Other Day Diet is Easier than You Think
I found in easier to stick to the EODD than any other diet plan. This is because I was able to take it one day at a time.
Instead of spending months dreaming about a bowl of ice cream, on the low calorie days I contented myself knowing that I could have one small dessert tomorrow without messing up my diet.
I never felt guilty about going out to a restaurant or party. I just planned that trip on my regular eating day and made sure that I don’t over eat while enjoying myself.
My body felt hungry on the low calorie days, but it will never felt deprived over the long term. My vitamin and mineral levels are also kept at healthy numbers and I also felt as if I was functioning normal.
